Paragould theater reopens for live audience
PARAGOULD, AR- Paragould community and surrounding areas The Collins Theater is open ready to put in a show.
After several long months since the theater put on a show with a live audience, tonight things changed but with many COVID protocols in place.
“Our first actual show for the public is going to be tonight and we couldn’t be more excited to be back in here providing entertainment for the community,” Theater Manager, Joy Robinson said.
They got approval from the Arkansas Department of Health to reopen to a limited capacity seating arrangement.
The theater can’t wait to fill the seats with a capacity of 150. Seats will be socially distanced, masks are required.
“You will have ushers greet you at the door to take you to your seats. You will have three seats in between you and the next group we also have social distancing dots here in the lobby and sanitizers provided by a grant from Main Street Paragould,” Robinson said.
Concessions were available with two people behind the counter, one taking the money, and another passing the snacks out.
All tickets for future events will be presale.
Robinson says she’s grateful to the community and community leaders for sticking with them for the last year and look forward to bringing them more shows this year.
“It’s an odd adjustment, to be honest. We had kind of gotten in the swing of things the way they were going before. It’s overwhelming how happy we all are. I’ve made the joke several times that I hope I remember how to do my job, so it’s been a fun thing just trying to remember how we do things and I’m just excited to see people’s faces in here again,” Robinson said.
If you missed tonight’s show, there will be others you can attend. Visit The Collins Theater on Facebook for upcoming shows.
