Over night storm create nearly 200 power outages
JONESBORO, AR- A few early-morning storms knocked out power to nearly 200 people across the area.
According to Craighead Electric Cooperative 186 people were without power this morning but by 9:30A.M more than half of them had their power back on.
“What was the cause of that was lightning. We had a lightning register phase down or a line down on highway 230, close to Bono,” Vice President, Marketing and Communications with Craighead Electric Cooperative, Monty Williams said.
The outages were reported around 5:30A.M as a storm system moved across the area bringing heavy rain and cloud-to-ground lightning.
It was another outage by Black Rock and more by Trumann and Earle. If you have any down power lines, avoid them because they may be live.
To check for any outages in your area you can visit Craighead Electric.
“They can actually zoom in on that map and it will get pretty close to the actual outages is or the area that affected and kind of give you several how many are out and how many are affected,” Williams said.
E-911 Director Jeff Presley says several traffic signals were out on caraway road between highland and parker.
With more rain to come, he says many ditches and drain systems are full of water. If you encounter extreme water in the roadway you should use extreme caution.
“Slow down, make sure that your headlights are on and your wipers are on. But if you start to see the water back up into your yard and things like that because of storm drains, give us a call and we’ll get somebody out to check that,” E-911 director, Jeff Presley said
