NEAHS participating in empty the shelter event

CRAIGHEAD COUNTY, Ark- If you're looking to adopt an animal now might be the best time.

The Northeast Arkansas Humane Society are currently hosting an empty the shelter event.

The program that started this week and will end tomorrow is through a grant from the Bissell Pet Foundation.

All dog adoption fees are now twenty-five dollars and cats are fifteen dollars.

Director of the Northeast Arkansas Humane Society Hillary Starnes says they're seeing successful adoption numbers from the event.

"So far, we've gotten over 20 animals out of the building, which is great. That makes room for animals to come in next week that have been waiting to get out, off the road, owner surrenders so we can take those in and get those adopted out,” says Starnes.

Starnes says the shelter is currently full and has a waiting list for dogs to get in.
