Local Housing complex helps A-state students with a scholarship
JONESBORO,AR- A-state students have a new scholarship opportunity available from a local Jonesboro business.
The newly opened, university lofts, in downtown Jonesboro is a housing complex available to incoming and current a-state students but wanted to give a little something extra to those students.
“We see everything that Arkansas State University does to help its students and we want to be a part of that as well. Students are obviously an intricate part of what we do and our operations and so we wanted to be a part of that and give back to them. I know it’s such a challenging time for students across the country so, we thought this is a way for us to help,” University Lofts Property Manager, Parker Sitton said.
The company says they offer unique housing options, making Jonesboro more attractive to prospective students.
As a way to help a-state students, they have endowed a $25,000 endowment scholarship for business majors at the university. The interest from it will award one student a $1,000 a year if they qualify.
It’s for undergraduate students and it can carry for all 4 years
“Each scholarship has its criteria and if they fit those criteria then the students are awarded the scholarship,” Executive Director of development, David McClain said.
Sitton says the housing complex wants to be involved with the students and school as much as possible.
“We’re very excited to call Jonesboro and specifically downtown Jonesboro home to us. It’s unique for us being here and we’re so close to Arkansas State University so, we realized how important we are to Arkansas State University students and potential students. So we’re very very thrilled to be given this gift to help students in any way we can,” Sitton said.
