Jonesboro Animal Control reduces adoption fees during "Empty the Shelters" event

CRAIGHEAD COUNTY, Ark If you’ve considered adding a furry friend to your family, now might be the time to do it.

Jonesboro Animal Control is partnering with the Bissell Pet Foundation to empty the shelter by reducing dog adoption fees to just forty dollars.

“It is May first through the twelfth for us, Monday through Friday… It includes a spay/ neuter, it includes rabies vaccine, five in one vaccine, microchip, and heartworm test for age-appropriate dogs,” said Kayleigh England, adoption and rescue coordinator at J-A-C.

England says they have around 80 dogs of all different breeds and sizes ready to find their fur-ever homes.

“Mostly medium to large size dogs but we do have a few small adult dogs and puppies available.”

The Bissell Pet Foundation hosts its “empty the shelters” adoption event several times a year; by teaming up with more than 350 shelters in 45 states, including the Jonesboro Animal Control.

With some applications already turned in, England says they’re optimistic about the initiative.

“Our adoptions almost double every time we do this.”

“We have a whole photo album titled ‘adopt me now’ with all of our adoptable dogs in it,” she said.

Appointments are required for the event and to meet the adoptable dogs.
