BRTC expanding CDL program when the need is higher than ever
Pocahontas, AR- Black River Technical College’s corporate and community education department has entered into a is expanding their CDL program when the need is higher than ever.
RL Transport and encore capital have agreed to lease a truck and trailer to BRTC’S CDL program for a dollar annually. Dr. Brad Baine is grateful for the newly developed partnership.
“We were very eager and happy to partnership to develop a partnership with RL transport. So, we started the conversation and we started looking at what needs did RL Transport have and of course what needs BRTC have,” Vice President for Academics, Dr. Brad Baine said.
The college started the program about 9 months ago and now with the new addition, they have two trucks, two trailers, and a simulator.
Now allowing BRTC to train more students in the program.
The common goal of meeting the needs of the rapidly growing trucking industry.
“It’s exciting for us to be apart of that and transform these lives of our students and do it in a quality manner. We want to make sure when we train our drivers, they are the best drivers that are put out on the road. We’re excited about our 100% graduation rate with this program,” Baine said.
RL Transport is in Missouri but have a lot of business in Arkansas. With the increase in local business, Baine says they developed the program to help those locally.
“BRTC, we pride ourselves in serving our community and not just serving our community but the communities that are impacted by us regionally and internationally. We also pride ourselves and transform the lives of students and this type of profession pay so well and it definitely a profession that has a purpose to it,” Baine said.
