Anchor Packaging in Paragould expanding with a 90,000 sq foot facility
PARAGOULD,AR- A new addition is coming to Paragould industry.
Anchor Packaging in Paragould held a groundbreaking ceremony as they begin a 90,000-square foot expansion.
“The people of Paragould, if you could sum them up it would be determination, grit, the kind of people who roll up their sleeves, and get the job done and I think Anchor in the middle of a pandemic and making an expansion like they are showing the same grit, and determination. I think that’s one reason why they're such a great fit for us,” Paragould Mayor, Josh Agee said.
The $21.5 million expansion to its Paragould manufacturing facility, which will create 45 new jobs over the next 30 months.
This is the 2nd expansions for anchor packaging since 1985.
Today, Anchor employs over 1,000 people and operates two million square feet of production and distribution across six facilities in Paragould, Marmaduke, and Jonesboro.
“This is a company that throughout the pandemic has found ways to innovate they take employee safety very seriously. They have kept all their employees safe throughout the pandemic and such have now been able to experience growth,” Secretary of Commerce, Michael Preston said.
Plant Manager Zach Hocutt says they will begin earthmoving process and preparation next week.
He says they are adding additional capacity and a workforce with new ideas and people. This represents a 33% change just in the square footage by growing the building by 1/3.
Anchor Packaging has never had a layoff and the commitment to the employees has always been reliable.
“In almost 60 years, we have never once had a layoff in this facility or any of our facilities so coming to work for Anchor means, if you want to stay, you’ll have a job,” Plant manager, Zach Hocutt said.
Anchor Packaging expect the new facility to be complete by December 2021.
