Jonesboro's Nice Pak expanding, adding hundreds of jobs
JONESBORO- Ark- A major announcement came this morning regarding Nice Pak’s Jonesboro location.
As the demand for wet wipes continues to rise, we see the impact of this as Nice Pak continues to grow.
The wet wipe distributor will expand its facility and add hundreds of jobs to its Jonesboro plant by the end of 2021.
“So, today, we’re announcing the expansion of our facility here in Jonesboro, where we will be more than doubling our capacity,” says Nice Pak Chairman and CEO Robert Julius. “We’re adding new production lines, upgrading our existing production lines. With that in mind, we expect we will be doubling capacity over the next several years.”
Nice Pak has already increased their employment in 2020 and will end the year by adding a total of 130 positions.
Next year, Julius says they plan to increase that by hiring more than 300 people by the end of 2021.
Governor Asa Hutchinson was in attendance today for the announcement and says this is critical for Arkansas
“To show that we’re continuing to expand jobs and in an essential industry,” says Gov. Hutchinson. “This is going to mean hundreds of jobs next year, good-paying jobs. But it shows that we didn’t shut our economy down we’re continuing to work and create jobs.”
Due to higher demand from the pandemic, Nice Pak’s increased its operations to 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The company has multiple options for expanding, including moving parts of its distribution department to other locations to support its manufacturing expansion.
Quality Director of Nice Pak’s Jonesboro plant, Ricky Lester, says they continue to see growth.
“We have always been looking for continuous improvement where the need for growth arises,” says Lester. “So, this type of growth, obviously with the pandemic, has certainly expanded more than what we had anticipated when we did initial planning at the beginning of the year. But we’re tracking and trending results routinely.”
Lester says this expansion solidifies their commitment to Jonesboro.
They look forward to continuing their operations here for years to come.
