Camfil to build new facility in Jonesboro after March tornado

JONESBORO, Ark- Camfil Manufacturing will break ground on a new plant soon located at the Craighead Technology Park.

Their facility took a direct hit from the March 28th tornado.

“The rest of our site didn’t get destroyed, only 80,000 square foot got destroyed,” says Vice President of American’s Graeme Bell. “So, we still have the rest of it. So, we just decided to pick everything up and move it under one roof.”

The air pollution control manufacturer of industrial dust, fume, and mist collection systems.

Purchased the land before the pandemic and tornado.

But did not think they would be making use of it this soon.

One of their facilities, trucks, equipment, and products were destroyed by the tornado, with no damage to other facilities.

The company’s manufacturing operations are being conducted out of a rental location in Trumann.

Bell says it’s been hard for employees since the tornado hit.

“Great, nice, I mean the employees have worked hard,” said Bell. ‘We have some long serving employees in this business. They’ve worked hard these past six, seven months since the tornado. Moving to Trumann, leasing buildings."

Bell says that the new manufacturing plant will be good for the city of Jonesboro, the manufacturing industry and recruiting employees to the company.

Bell says they’ve been in Jonesboro for 20 years and they don’t plan on leaving anytime soon.

All of Camfil A.P.C. operations will be move to their new location, which is expected to be completed in spring 2022.
