A-State eSports host first Fortnite tournament

E-Sports is now becoming one of the most common ways to play sports but in safe way during COVID.

Tonight a-state esports held their first Fortnite tournament to encourage more students to get involved in the Esports organization.

Fortnite has been a popular online video game since about 2017.

Davion Foster member of the A-State E-Sports teams says they put this together as a way to get my student involved in the organization.

Foster says they have a collaboration with North American collegiate league and Mark Cuban the owner of the Dallas Mavericks to join for a jersey collaboration called three commas.

Foster believes the pandemic has given new voice to those in esports.

“Esports has evolved during this hard time of COVID-19 tremendously. We have a lot more people involved in the organization. More people are now on their phones, on the game, laptops, PC. They’re just playing the game trying to give up free time to pass,” Esports member, Davion Foster said.

The tournament is a solo player tournament only for A-State students.

It is not at their ESports headquarters to practice socially distance.

Now although Foster is looking forward to the many thing this tournament will create for the future.

“I’m looking forward for a lot of people to play, bring more people to the e-sports organization. I am hoping it goes well. I won’t be playing myself tonight, even though I’m a part of the Fortnite team, but I will be casting it, but I’m excited to see where it takes us,” Foster said
