New program at Northeast Arkansas Humane Society helps cats get adopted.

CRAIGHEAD COUNTY, Ark- The Northeast Arkansas Humane Society is now offering a program for “last chance cats”

The new barn cat program helps adopt feral cats that can help with rodent issues to farms or people with barns, or stables.

According to the NEAHS, these cats last chance at life as they are too feral to be pets.

All cats available are spayed, neutered, and vaccinated, with a $30 adoption fee.

Executive Director, Anna Smith says so far, the program has been successful.

“When I got to work, I already had ten applications on my desk to run for this program,” says Smith. “So, there is a lot of interest in it and hopefully we will be able to place some cats soon. I think if we can get this up and rolling, this will be a permanent program that we will have.”

SMITH says the program was modeled after others across the country.

If you are interested in the barn cat program you are encouraged to contact the Northeast Arkansas Humane Society.
