Restaurants across Arkansas open for phase one

JONESBORO, Ark- Starting today citizens around the state will be able to dine- in at restaurants.

This has been prohibited since late March.

We spoke with a few eatery owners who say they’re ready to have customers back eating inside the dining rooms but also say it may not be financially viable.

“People are like “oh i can’t wait until you open back up”, so what we’re gonna do when people come in is, they will be temp checked, we’ll have hand sanitizer stations," says Johnson. " We have about twelve thousand square foot so we can really social distance in there significantly.”

Johnson says they will also space tables out and limit the amount of people per group.

The governor announced on April 29th that restaurants could re-open in three phases, phase one allows up to 33% capacity, phase two allowing up to 67% capacity and phase three returning dining spaces to one-hundred-percent capacity.

Face masks are required for staff and patrons before and after their meal.

While Brickhouse Grill is re-opening today one other Jonesboro restaurant will remain closed for now.

“In terms if it was time for us to reopen, we thought let’s just wait a couple of weeks and see," says Owen."Our space is also small, so if we go down to a third of our capacity that tends to cut down again on what’s our revenue factor. We also have to come up with the money for the personal protective gear that the governor wants us to use… we certainly want to use that.”

Owens says they want their customers to feel comfortable to when they go to the Recovery Room and worries, they would not feel that way with re-opening restrictions.

We will also update you on when phases two and three when they are announced.
