Despite COVID-19 industries still interested in Jonesboro

JONESBORO, Ark- While COVID-19 has put a halt on projects across the country, according to Mark Young with the Jonesboro Regional Chamber of Commerce, industries say they are still interested Jonesboro, with promising first and second quarter numbers.

“We continue to move that forward and have great conversations,” says Young. “What’s interesting and you’ll see this in our next report next quarter in April I was extremely surprised by this. We actually had more inquiries in April than we’ve had this last quarter. This is something I would not have anticipated.”

Young made the special presentation and presented it to the chamber of commerce over Zoom.

He says he was surprised by the promising first quarter numbers.

According to young, ten manufacturing businesses during first quarter reached out saying they were interested in Jonesboro.

Young says with out-of-state travel previously restricted by Governor Hutchinson in response to COVID-19 there was only one prospective visit.

This is making the chamber of commerce get creative when it comes to marketing the city.

“So how we are having many of these same kinds of meetings with Zoom,” says Young. “We also have the capability to use drone video. So instead of that individual coming to our community and seeing industrial parts firsthand we will shoot video and share that with them. That currently is the next best thing to do for us.”

Young told the city council that he expects April’s numbers and data to be out within the next few weeks and we will update once they are in.
