Paragould School District only school to receive Blue & You Foundation grant
Paragould school district received a COVID-19 relief response grant from the Blue and You Foundation for a Healthier Arkansas. School official Laural Taylor says right now they want to focus on the basic needs of their students.
“I want to try and get everything for our kids, they deserve it. Times are tough right now our parents and kids are under a lot of financial stress and we just try to ease that and you know our school is really focused on education but right now we really want to focus on just their basic needs.”
Paragould School District was the only school in the state to be selected for this grant.
They will use $6,000 on food for their backpack program and $3,000 on school supplies for students.
“We’ll invite parents to come and pick up the food backpack program. These are students that have qualified for this program so, they will be invited up on specific dates to pick up their nutritional snacks.”
The foundation also gave a grant of $20,000 to Northeast Arkansas Children’s Advocacy Center in Jonesboro for PPE supplies.
Because Ms. Taylor enjoys looking for grants for their students, she plans to find others to keep helping the students.
“I can’t stand the thought of someone being hungry and so we want to make sure that our kids have what they need and that those basic needs are being met.”
This backpack program for the students will begin this week until mid-July and school supplies given out next week.
