NYIT Cancels Match Day for Fourth Year Students

NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine’s inaugural match day set for this Friday has been cancelled due to COVID-19.

The Match Day pairs fourth year medical students with residency programs that they will complete once they graduate.

Usually, a formal ceremony is hosted for students but that has changed due to the outbreak.

Students will now receive an email Friday morning telling them where they have been matched according to NYIT's Associate Director of External Relations and Marketing, Casey Pearce.

This is Arkansas’ first-class osteopathic medicine students to graduate.

“With everything that’s going on, and from a global health prospective is not great here. NYIT instead of gathering three hundred people for a party is going to practicing social distancing as we’ve been preaching to everyone. We’re leaders in the medical community and we want to be good stewards of those things we are practicing.”

NYIT has asked their students to share their match day experiences on Friday and we will share those with you all as well.
