Paragould police made an arrest in connection with the forced lock down at Paragould junior and high schools. Because the suspect is a minor, their name has not been released.
“First of all, I’m relieved. It really made me feel a bit better about sending her back to school, it made her feel better about going back to school. The only thing that ran through my mind, was not only does that student but the family needs prayer, you know because we don’t know what is going through their mind or why they did it,” Jamie Gill said.
According to the Paragould police department, the juvenile suspect has been arrested for the offense of threatening to commit an act of mass violence on school property.
After Paragould school district was notified about a suspicious note found on campus, they placed the two schools on lock down, while safely removing the students from the school to their parents.
Knowing that Paragould police and administration are working hard to assure the safety for parents and students was highly appreciated.
"The police department and the school stayed on top of it. They made sure they found out who did it and removed that student so that the rest of the school and the parents felt safer about sending their kids to school. I am beyond thankful that the school and the police did that, and I mean, I give them credit, they did an amazing job,” Gill said.
At this time, we still do not know what was written on the suspicious note.
