The Jonesboro clinic of Arkansas Children’s Hospital continues to expand in size, and patient care, adding a pediatric cardiologist and audiologist this year. Chris and Kim Fowler are behind the growth.
“I myself, am a patient, and my two youngest children currently are patients,” says Chris Fowler. The Jonesboro couple has given over a million dollars to Arkansas Children’s. And hosts the annual Day of The Derby event to raise additional funds.
“Arkansas Children’s Hospital is just a fantastic hospital, that serves the entire state. And here in Northeast Arkansas, we’ve really been sort of underserved,” adds Chris. “I really want them to continue to grow in the area, and service more kids from Northeast Arkansas, and Southeast Missouri, just this whole area,” adds Kim Fowler.
The ongoing renovations to the Jonesboro clinic double the space and footprint for patients. Saving families approximately seven hundred thousand minutes of annual travel time to Little Rock, by providing care closer to home.
“That really I think is going to be a profound improvement in the care we can provide. Both in subspecialty, and diagnostic care,” says Chanda Chacon, who is Arkansas Children’s Executive Vice President.
The changes allow specialists to provide the same standard of care in Jonesboro as other regions of the state. Which Chacon adds is reassuring for patients.
“Having a relationship with a provider that’s right there in your community who can build relationships, and understand the environment, really allows for a heightened level of care and comfort for kids and their families,” adds Chacon.
