Walnut Ridge Regional Airport airplane restaurant is coming back with a look
A familiar plane at the Walnut Ridge Regional Airport is getting a new look.
Seth Hardage has spent the last year transforming this plane to a new restaurant called Zulu.
The past few months have been filled with delays, but progress is back
Hardage says the experience is not what he expected, “It has been a great fun experience, but it was more than I anticipated. But this is something that our community needs. We need more places to go. We need more things for people to do and this will be a great asset to our airport”.
Since the Walnut Ridge Regional Airport is a military contracted airport they see a lot of soldiers.
Airport Manager, Stacy Hoggard says this new addition will help them better serve those who stop by during duty, “We always take care of our military when they come in. We feel like that is a way of thanking them for their service and this restaurant will be a great help with that”.
The airport recently renewed their military contract till 2023.
Hoggard says the news of restaurant just helped to seal the deal.
“I mean when we got the contract we told them we had two new fuel trucks and we were getting a new fuel farm but the restaurant on top of it kind of ices the cake”, said Hoggard.
Once opened, Zulu will serve farm-to-table meals and fresh seafood flown in from Louisiana.
The Zulu restaurant is hoping to give more than just fresh meals for its customers. It’s hoping to give them a sense of the history here at the Walnut Ridge Regional Airport.
“Up in the plane we are going to have a lot of history stuff like in the tables we will have embed photos of all the fallen soldiers we’ve had here. We are really wanting to encourage kids and schools to come out and see it and then bring them over to the museum”, said Hardage.
Zulu plans on having an Aviation and Beatles themes.
Hardage is hoping to have a grand opening of Zulu in mid-July.
