JET Searches for Bus Drivers

Jonesboro JET is making changes in services, and searches for drivers to add to their team.

Jonesboro’s Economical Transit System (JET) says that they’ve experienced a dip in staff. Right now, there are just 28 employees. The shortages create challenges with scheduling routes, and puts stress on drivers, route coordinators, and other staff.

JET transit director Michael Black says they have a big need for four part-time bus drivers.

They plan to improve JET’s Saturday service, by offering the same routes available Monday through Friday on Saturday. Drivers require a CDL with passenger endorsement. Black says they are willing to train anyone that’s willing to obtain the license and start the job.

“Everybody starts at part-time, due to the amount of training involved,” says Black. “It starts at $12/HR, and of course, over the next few years, as minimum wage goes up, that will also increase.”

Black wants to fill the openings as soon as possible. For more information, and to apply to be a bus driver for JET, you can visit RideJet.org.
