ASU NYIT Holds White Coat Ceremony For Class of 2022

August 13, 2018

More than a hundred students, parents and staff gathered at the Fowler Center in Jonesboro to kick off the White Coat Ceremony for the class of 2022.

Approximately one hundred and twenty students participated in the ceremony.

Students receive short medical coats at the start of their medical schooling, then transition to long coats when they become doctors. Family and friends of incoming students get the initial honor of dressing the medical students in their coats.

Second year student Samia Khan is optimistic that the incoming class will have all the learning advantages she did as a first year student.

“one thing I know I looked forward to when starting was just having that community here at the school because I am an out of state student. So that was something I needed, and really looking forward to that. Our faculty are amazing, same with our classmates, so I’m sure they’ll have the same experience as me.”

The NYIT White Coat ceremony serves as a rite of passage as students take on new learning opportunities.
