The Democratic nominee for governor, Jared Henderson, spent part of Friday in Jonesboro.
Henderson spoke at the Jonesboro Regional Chamber of Commerce that afternoon. He touched on topics such as infrastructure and healthcare.
Henderson says that education, especially in lower income areas will be a big priority of his administration.
"I've spent a lot of the last ten years in public education in Arkansas. I've been in some of our more impoverished communities. We have brilliant kids everywhere, but we need to focus like a laser on making teaching one of our most attractive and respected professions, especially in our impoverished communities."
Henderson faces governor Asa Hutchinson in the November election.
Hutchinson will be kicking off his two-day agriculture tour across south Arkansas next week.
