Basketball Tournament Raises Money For Student In Need

Students from a number of Jonesboro schools made their way to Annie Camp Junior High on Tuesday for a special basketball tournament.

“Hoops for Q”, this 3-on-3 tournament is a fundraiser for 15-year-old Quinton Tate.

Tate was in a tragic bike accident back in May that left him in the hospital for more than a month. Tate suffered from head trauma and other injuries.

All the funds raised from the tournament are going towards his medical expenses.

Students decided to host the fundraiser to show Tate that he is not alone on his journey to recovery.

“I am so happy they have pulled this together and everything. I’m like overwhelmed and everything. So, I appreciate everybody who is coming out here to support my son, Quinton because we’ve been through a lot,” said Quinton’s mother, Diane Tate.

Quinton was able to see some of the games Tuesday.

His mom says he still has a long journey towards recovery ahead of him and will be going through outpatient therapy.
