This Thursday, a Paragould high school history teacher will head to the national capitol for the 2018 C-SPAN Educator’s Conference.
Laura Richards teaches government at Greene County Tech High School.
She is one of only thirty teachers selected to attend the conference.
At the conference, Richards will hear from guest speakers about how to use C-SPAN’s free teaching resources in the classroom, and network with other educators.
She believes that it will allow her students to form unbiased opinions about what’s taking place in the world around them.
“The more that they can get to the information themselves or watch it without a TV personality
telling them their own point of view, the better they’re going to be able to frame their own argument on what it is that they believe. I feel very honored to do this,” said Richards.
The conference will be held this July 26th and 27th.
Those selected to attend received free round trip airfare, accommodations and meals.
