Pull out your lawn chairs or bring a blanket and get ready to have a good time Tuesday nights in June at the Craighead County Jonesboro Public Library. Each Tuesday in June the library will host a free concert on the front lawn beginning at 6:30 p.m. This week, the second concert of the summer will feature Vikki McGee on Tuesday, June 12th. This hour long concert will be held on the front lawn of the library located at 315 West Oak Avenue.
When Vikki McGee takes the stage on Tuesday, she will be accompanied by Matt Pierce on guitar, Jacob Brumley on drums, Sonny Campbell on Bass and Kierra McGee-Forrester on harmony vocals. Originally from Louisiana, McGee comes from a familial line of musicians and has spent many years performing. On her new website, www.vikkimcgee.com, she said, “Whether for 2 or 2,000 you give the same show.” The library concerts usually draw between 400-700 attendees! She and her band are busy recording new music featuring original songs written by both McGee and Sonny Campbell.
The library staff will put out some chairs, but attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on to enjoy the music. The concerts are sponsored by Andy’s Frozen Custard and Newk’s Eatery. Andy’s will bring cups of frozen custard and Newk’s will bring iced tea to be given away. The library will have coolers of bottled water out for guests as well.
