Immigration Forum to be Held Jan.26th

January 16, 2018

Immigration and the so called Deferred Action for Childhood Crrival- better known now days as DACA,  is  at the forefront on the national political  landscape.      It’s also generating interest locally in Jonesboro.

Tonight the Arkansas United Community Coalition met to discuss an upcoming  community forum to be held on Friday January 26th in Jonesboro.

Last fall hundreds of students gathered in protest of the trump  announcement that he intended to eliminate the DACA program and the protection it offers.

Just this week Trump made good on his promise and used DACA as a bargaining tool to get congress to pass  immigration reform and fund a border wall

On a local level, the community coalition will meet with the Chancellor of Arkansas State,  the Mayor of Jonesboro and a legal attorney out of Memphis.

That forum will be held at the Parker Center on Church Street on January 26th from 5 to 7pm.

Both immigrants and non immigrants are invited to attend and ask questions.
