Late Tuesday afternoon, the Craighead County Sheriff's Department charged 27 year old Christopher Trey Yerbey with the death of 55 year old Rickie Glen Kirkendoll. Kirkendoll was found dead by the Lake City Police Chief Winred Saffell late Monday afternoon after receiving a 911 call from a woman.
After responding to 715 4th Street and confirming a deceased body on the kitchen floor Saffell turn the case over the Craighead County Sheriff's department.
Yerbey was a suspect from the beginning. Law enforcement put out his photo and description of his white pickup with handicapped plates 348-345.
Mayor Jon Milligan knew of Kirkendoll from when he paid his utility bills. He says Kirkendoll would spend time with his wife and children in Michigan for about 3 months of the year. He says he was a good guy. He was stunned by the announcement. Milligan is asking the community to come together in this time of tragedy.
Yerbey turned himself in the West Memphis police this morning shortly after 8am. Craighead County Sheriffs department picked him up for questioning, Late this afternoon formal murder charges were file against Yerbey.
