Juveniles on the Run in Harrisburg

Update: The two juveniles have been caught. They were spotted by a youth services employee, They were charged with escape and then transferred to a more secure facility within the state. They were caught near the liquor store where a CYS employee spotted them and dialed 911 for assistance.


For the third time this year juveniles have walked away from the youth detention center in Poinsett County.

Shortly before 3:30 pm two juveniles escaped from the Consolidated Youth Services on Justice Drive in Harrisburg. According to Harrisburg Police Chief Justin Kimble the boys are not considered dangerous, but are serving time on felony charges.

He described the boys as wearing the facility's universal uniform. Both are wearing khaki pants, white tennis shoes, blue polo shirt and a white undershirt.

Names are not being released, but the boys are described as a 15-year old African American male and a 17 year old Hispanic male. Both were attending classes when the escape occurred. As the boy transistioned between building they ran north into a wooded area by the detention facility on the north side of town,

Kimble says they do have surveillance of the boys leaving of the property.
